Spring Cleaning: Public Areas - Walls and Ceilings

12521429 s

Perhaps some of the least cleaned areas of a commercial building's public areas are the walls, corners, ceilings, and light fixtures! Here's a check list to help you with that. AND - Facility Care Commercial Cleaning can clean ALL of these areas for you.

Clean Walls - AND Corners! You may be surprised how dirty walls can become over the year. Dust and grime build up slowly - so slowly you may not notice. And, corners between the walls and the ceilings can harbor some little critters or dust "bunnies". Here's some ideas to help you target these areas for your Commercial Sprint Cleaning project.

Washing / Dusting / Scrubbing the Walls: Especially areas with any moisture, washing or dusting the surfaces and corners of walls is an important aspect of commercial cleaning. We know exactly the perfect type of product and technique to clean your commercial facility's walls. At this time, you might also inspect them for update/repair/upgrades. You might also check all electrical sockets and plugins.

Ceilings even collect grim! While we tend to think that things fall down because of gravity, air flow can cause debris to rise and stain, darken the ceiling. This can be an opportune time to have the ceiling cleaned. Ask us how best to clean your ceiling. Repairs at this time may also be timely.

Light Fixtures: YES! Clean, dust, and polish them. Maybe change any light shades to newer ones. Remember, your clients / customers will be coming in and any stained or torn or otherwise worn shades or light covers present a very bad image to your public. This may also be a good time to check the electrical work, add or move fixtures, or change fixtures.

Ask us at Facility Care Commercial Cleaning for help with cleaning your ceilings and walls. You'll be glad you did!

Spring Cleaning: Public Areas - Floors

Continuing with our topic of Commercial Spring Cleaning:

Your facility's public areas are the "face" of your company. Here's some suggested things to check at this time of the year. This isn't an exhaustive list, but we hope this will help you target the areas that need cleaning and repairing.

dreamstime xs 20359716Floors:

Now is a good time to make sure that all flooring is spick and span and not in need of repair. You may want to inspect all flooring for: Carpet repairs and updates. Look for rips or thin places in carpeting, carpet stains, frayed edges or loose molding - particularly in transition areas from one height to another or one type of flooring to another. For tiled areas: check for loose or cracked pieces and molding, update the grout, and determine if any pieces need to be replaced. Facility Care can help you update and refresh both your carpeted areas and your tiled areas.

For concrete areas: You might want to check for cracks, any areas that need to be deeply cleaned and stains removed, sections that are a slip hazard, and areas that included different levels and transitions to different flooring. Check your mats that are on the concrete flooring for slip hazards.

For wood and vinyl flooring areas: This may be a good time for special cleaning. Perhaps stripping of old wax or cleaning residue and resealing, applying a protective layer that fits your type of wood or vinyl, and checking the transition areas for potential rips, trips, or current stains.

Corners and Molding: This is a perfect time to have Facility Care deep clean those pesky corners between walls, and the wall and floor! Dirt can really get piled up and stuck in those areas. Additionally, we can specially clean the floor's molding. Perhaps you might inspect it to see if any needs to be replaced.

Facility Care Commercial Cleaning would be GLAD to help you with these projects!

Spring Cleaning: Exterior Cleaning

10449419 m

We're doing a series of blog posts regarding commercial building Spring Cleaning. While many are used to doing Spring Cleaning schedules for their homes, we at Facility Care Commercial Cleaning know the value of having a Spring Cleaning checklist and action plan for your facility and office(s).

Even though Facility Care doesn't do exterior cleaning, we know how important this is for the proper cleanliness and maintenance of your commercial facility. Here's our suggestions for exterior Spring Cleaning, starting from top going down.

Roof and Guttering: Now is the time to have your roof and guttering checked for wear and tear. This will help prevent future problems. We suggest you call a reputable roofing expert or your insurance company and have your roof components checked. ESPECIALLY if your building has a flat roof.

Wiring, power lines, phone lines, and other attached items on your building's exterior: We recommend you have the roofing company also check any wires, antenna, dishes, etc while they are on your roof; making sure they are securely fastened. Additionally, perform a careful visual inspection of all wires leading into and out of the building. If in doubt: call an expert!

Exterior walls, windows, and entry ways: Now is a good time to have them fully cleaned and any missing caulking or pieces repaired. Check all caulking for cracks or openings. Inspect your entry ways for over head leaks, breaks, necessary repairs. Check the doorways and windows for cleanliness and any necessary upgrades or repairs. We at Facility Care are experts at cleaning your windows, glass doors and entries, and glass partitions. Give us a call! You'll be glad you did.

Walk ways, steps, parking area(s): check for cleanliness, painted lines and directional insignias, and ANY cracks, holes, or uneven surfaces that someone could trip over. Remember that our population is aging and many use walkers to move from place to place. Therefore smooth, non-slippery surfaces are important.

We hope this post helps you organize and keep your facility in tip-top shape!

In our next post, we'll look at other aspects of Commercial Spring Cleaning.
